Building Update: March
We have seen some exciting developments in the Bryant Neighborhood Center since our January update!
First, a huge THANK YOU to our paint crew!
Steve Power of Power Painting lead a team of former Trinity youth, who came together this weekend to paint the ENTIRE Bryant Neighborhood Center. We are so grateful to Matt Hillis, Elliot Morton, Chase Hillis and Katie Hunter, along with Mark Hillis and Kevin Hunter. The team was smaller than expected, due to COVID-19 travel restrictions prohibiting, but accomplished an impressive amount of work!
Additionally, a fantastic team prepped for painting earlier in the week; thanks to Dave Templin, Harlan Shoop, Brady Bekker, John Bekker, Kris Rocke, Mark Hills, Matt Hillis, and Kevin Hunter, who led the whole effort. All told, these volunteer contributions saved $18,000!
Check out the gym, it practically glows! You can also see the updated lighting. Where we formally had light bulbs in cages, we now have recessed light, safe from any dodgeballs, basketballs or soccer balls that might reach the ceiling. Our new flooring hasn’t been installed yet, but it’s coming soon!
In the Kitchen, the team at Mountain Construction finished framing in the new space, adding drywall, and replacing windows. You can see all the good work done by the paint team here too. The former Sunday school classroom is barely recognizable.
The Learning Center also received a fresh coat of paint, and we can see the new handrails going down to the gym. It’s also exciting to note that the old radiators, formerly used to heat the whole building all at once, have been removed thanks to a new HVAC system. We now have more efficient, localized heating capabilities. Note the new handrails leading down the stairs to the gym, and updated ceiling tiles.
The Great Room is perhaps the most improved by a fresh coat of paint! Additionally, we’ve hung the new-to-us light fixtures above the entrance.
Outside, the Plaza is well underway! Broad concrete stairs welcome folks to the lower level, with the ADA accessible ramp recently poured between Trinity House and the back of the stair tower. These pictures also clearly show the new stair tower, an important part of the seismic retrofit, and improving the flow of the building.
Construction on the Bryant Neighborhood Center is very nearly finished! If you would like to contribute to this effort, we continue to welcome gifts towards the Here for Good Capital Campaign, as well as contributions towards future programming in the Center. We look forward to opening our doors to our neighbors soon!
